Still using Ex d indicators? Here’s a simpler, lower cost option

The lower cost, Ex eb alternative to flameproof Ex d loop powered indicators introduced by BEKA five years ago, has recently been improved. These field mounting indicators now introduce an even lower voltage drop in the 4/20mA loop, are available with a choice of a GRP or stainless steel enclosure, and in addition to the original IECEx and ATEX certification, now have US and Canadian approvals.

Featuring very large, easy to read displays with optional loop powered backlighting, the indicators can be installed in almost any 4/20mA loop located in Zone 1 or 2.  The BA304SG has four 34mm digits, and the BA324SG five 29mm digits with a bargraph, both providing an attractive alternative to Ex d flameproof instruments.

The use of multiple explosion protection techniques in these Ex eb indicators is explained in BEKA video and Application Guide AG320. These techniques allow the indicator controls to be safely operated in a hazardous area, and eliminate the need for expensive Ex d cable glands which simplifies installation.

Both the BA304SG and the BA324SG also have IECEx and ATEX Equipment Dust Protection by Enclosure Ex t, allowing installation in Zones 21 and 22.
